Urban households have limited space for vegetable production, especially the urban poor. Allotment gardens have been proven to be one of the solutions to facilitate legal access for urban poor to land for food production. Container gardening is a suitable option for those persons where allotment gardens are not available or who can only devote less time on vegetable production.
Container can be defined as follows: A micro model of farming where a family unit or household is producing fruits and vegetables in special containers for personal consumption to help improve the income, health and well-being of its family members.
