Philippine UDDT at German Trade Fair IFAT 2008
There was a great deal of interest for the model of a Philippine urine diverting drying toilet designed by the GTZ Water and Sanitation Programme among the expert public attending the "International Trade Fair for Water - Sewage - Refuse - Recycling (IFAT)" which was held from May 5 - 9, 2008 in Munich, Germany. A large number of visitors listened to the GTZ personnel manning the stand as they explained how the UDD toilet functions and discussed the broader approach of ecological sanitation.
The display was part was part of a broader exhibition giving an overview of German development cooperation represented by GTZ, KfW, InWent, BGR and other organisations. An up-to-date overview of the international trends and developments was presented to an audience of around 100 participants of IFAT at the famous Munich Hofbräuhaus. The labor union Ver.di organized the event under the title “Climate change, a more sustainable management of water resources – challenges for workers and businesses”.
Other presentations included issues such as the energy efficiency of wastewater treatment plants.
