ASEAN Parliamentary Group of the German Bundestag visits Balulang Elementary School
Seven members of the ASEAN Parliamentary Group of the German Bundestag, the national parliament of Germany, visited the Balulang Elementary School in Cagayan de Oro on February 7, 2008 to see the school-based allotment garden with ecosan facilities as well as the essential health care package that was implemented by the Department of Education in cooperation with PUVeP and the German Doctors Program of Xavier University, CIM experts Dr. Bella Monse and Dr. Robert Holmer and with financial and technical support of the German Development Cooperation.
The German parliamentarians Dr. Klaus Lippold, Bernward Müller, Anita Schäfer (all CDU/CSU), Holger Ortel, Ernst Kranz, Elvira Drobinski-Weiß (all SPD) as well as Hellmut Königshaus (FDP) were joined by Mr. Pit Heltmann, Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy Manila, as well as other representatives from the German Development Cooperation.
During this occasion, the German delegation was able to interact with community partners, teachers, pupils and LGU officials that have implemented the allotment gardens and ecosan facilities and discussed with them the socioeconomic and environmental impact of these programs.
