Strategic Planning Workshop Conducted
PUVeP conducted a planning workshop from May 16-17 at Balubal to finalize the activities for the period June 1, 2007 to May 31, 2008. The main activities of PUVeP for the next twelve months will focus on strengthening the allotment garden and ecological sanitation program by creating sustainable structures at the level of the (1) communities, (2) academe, (3) local government units and (4) private business sector.
In general, the direction of PUVeP tends to turnover the responsibility of establishing and maintaining allotment gardens and ecological sanitation facilities to the local government units (in cooperation with the private business and civil society sector), while focusing more on education (i.e. training for trainers) and research activities.
Further activities during the workshop encompassed the editing of the Allotment Garden Manual as well as brainstorming on the Private-Public-Partnership project under the SCOPE program of DED.
