Twelve OJT Complete their Practicum at PUVeP
Twelve On-the-Job Trainees from different universities completed their six-weeks internship at PUVeP on May 24, 2007. Four of them were Agricultural Engineering students from the Central Visayas State College of Agriculture, Forestry and Technology (CVISCAFT), Bilar, Bohol; further seven Agriculture students (with major in Entomology) from the Central Mindanao University and there was one lone representative from Xavier University (major in Crop Science). The students were assigned in a rotational basis to the sweet corn and vegetable production areas, composting and vermicomposting areas, as well the ecological sanitation toilets. In addition, they were also exposed to the different allotment gardens as part of their community exposure. As a conclusion of the training, they students were asked to make powerpoint presentations on different pests and diseases of vegetables as well as crop management practices. A white-water rafting ride on the Cagayan de Oro River was a well-deserved reward for the trainees for a job well done.
